2 weeks ago on 25 March 2023, Next Gen was honoured to play a part in West Coast Community Centre's Earth Hour event. The message of the event was simple but powerful. Together, as corporates, individuals and the community, we can play a part in making our world greener and more sustainable, thereby securing the future of the next generation.
Many booths were set up around this huge basketball court. Educational institutions, government agencies, games booths, live food stations and more lined the perimeters as residents roamed freely.
Here is our booth in case you were wondering ;) The big INVEST! banner could not be more eye-catching. As we shared about the Z Club, ESG investing and Next Gen, residents could not help but flock to us, especially because we kept giving out the crowd favourite - Vitasoy!
P.s. if you do not know why we are giving out Vitasoy, are you even a part of the club? It's on you to find out!
Here's a shoutout to all who came down to help that day - Zhouqi LIAN (VIP GC), Chee Siang CHEW (EIP), Sooria CMR (EIP) and a special guest - Jiawei LI (Muhan's brother)! If you cannot match the names to the faces, it is also revealing - please make friends! :D
Here are some snaps of the other exciting happenings - school performances, games booths, magic show, light show and movie screening.
Fun fact: the lights were turned off at 8.30pm as a sign of solidarity for the conservation of our earth and a greener future.
And here we have yours truly introducing the club and Next Gen to our Event Host, Minister S Iswaran, the Minister for Transport & Minister-in-Charge of Trade Relations. He is also the Advisor to West Coast Grassroots Organisation.
NGL, my palms were a little sweaty in that 3 minutes of interaction.
However I am glad that we managed to take a successful photo!
Here's another shoutout to Lilian WANG of Arisaig Partners who came for the event with her family and young children. Arisaig Partners is a strong supporter and partner of Next Gen, and we were pleased to introduce Lilian and Arisaig to the Minister too.
We had an idea to let residents sign on our banner as a show of support. Who knew that this would turn into a kids' favourite? We ended up receiving many cute drawings.
All in all, it was fun, fulfilling and rewarding to participate and share about ESG, sustainability and investing with the wider community.
If you are keen to check out more photos like the other booths that were there, you may head over to the Friends of West Coast Facebook page.
We have more exciting events coming right up. The 1st quarter is done and dusted, but the gears are revving. Stay tuned for more and join us next time!
