July 2023 Back to Schools!
Next Gen went to Unity Secondary School and Raffles Institution (Junior College) this July. We are versatile in the content we provide - all for the next generation of responsible investors!
Next Gen went back to school this July!
Unity Secondary School
On 14 July 2023, we were pleased to run our Investoon Game Show with Unity Secondary School!
This time, the game show was run slightly differently, since the students were only between 13-15 years old.
I opened up the session by sharing about the Z Club and encouraged the students to join us next time.
Tiffany then shared not only on ESG investing, but taught the students the concept of what a stock is in the first place. Through fun case studies like buying a stock of a hypothetical bubble tea shop, the students could relate and understand what it meant to purchase a piece of a company. Beyond that, students took into consideration E, S and G factors as Tiffany threw in different scenarios of what the shop could face.
After that, the students enjoyed their time reading the investoon and their feedback was they loved the Kahoot! game show segment! Even more reserved students opened up during the segment.
Following that, we were glad to see students coming up to boldly present their case study discussion questions in front of the entire class!
Overall, it was a very successful game show, determined by the students' level of understanding about company stock and investing before and after the 2-hour session.
Next Gen is glad to continue to go back to school to conduct further such game shows as an easy way to teach the younger generation about companies and investing.
Raffles Institution Humanities Program
Then, on 25 July 2023, Next Gen went to Raffles Institution Humanities Program (RIHP) for a talk. If you're wondering how we got this connection, it is because I was from the RIHP and reconnected with my teacher, Ms Lye. Ms Lye then invited us to share about investing with the students.
It was certainly a different experience for me to be standing at the microphone when I was just sitting in the lecture seat not too long ago... Ok actually it was more than a decade ago who am I kidding!
I encouraged the students to also apply to join the Z Club when they enter university. At least we don't have to wait that long for these students (17-18 years old) to apply!
Tiffany also shared her life experiences and investing and career tips with the students. This segment was a hot favourite, and the students were all engaged and asked many questions.
Once again, we are glad to be able to go back to school this July, and we are versatile in the topics or content that we can teach.
All for the next generation, for them to become future responsible investors!
Excellent work getting into schools to expose them to investing before they build up fears and biases about it!
