Background:
ClientEarth is an environmental law organisation. It has as its mission the protection of people and planet using the power of the law. The Asia Climate & Energy team, which is relatively new, seeks to (1) engage with the private sector (including the finance sector) in using corporate and financial laws as levers for change to better climate action, and (2) assist with the energy transition by looking to overcome legal and regulatory barriers that exist in various jurisdictions. These pillars are underpinned by their approach in providing legal capacity-building to all the relevant stakeholders – not least of all asset / investment managers – across the Asian region. Ultimately, their aim is to facilitate the achievement of net zero ambitions that are aligned with the Paris Agreement.Â
